water baby

The first time Baby G went in a pool was shortly after he was born, Labor Day of last year. Of course, they stopped heating the pool the weekend before, and so he didn't enjoy the experience very much. He's never been much of one for baths, either. I usually sling him and take him in the shower with me.

At the house where we're staying in Florida, the bathtub is an amazing corner tub for two. I filled it with a few inches of water last night and stuck him in, letting him get used to the splashing, hoping to sort of prep him for his pool adventure today.

He wasn't too sure about the pool when we first got in. It's heated to a very warm temperature, very comfortable for babies and adults alike. I had him in a baby floaty, and he was much more interested in the toys attached to it than to the fact he was in water. But as he got used to it he really took to it. This is just after he got in, and he's looking to daddy to make sure that everything's okay. Next to us is his aunt, his uncle and cousin are in the very back, and Papa is there in the middle.

By the end of the afternoon he came out of the floaty and was reaching for people other than momma, comfortable to explore "on his own." A much better experience than the first time we tried it!
