growing and talking

Bug has been growing and learning like crazy! Today he woke up from his nap and the first word he said was "Daddy!" I asked if he wanted to get down to go see daddy, he said "No, kitty!" then he pet the kitty and said, "Hi kitty! Boo! (kitty's name) Bye Boo! Daddy!" Got down and toddled off to find his dad. Sentences! (And usually emphatic ones, hence the exclamation points.)

He's also counting to 10 in his own way. He's been practicing all week. "1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 10!" So very close! We hear him recite this at random intervals throught the day, along with "Up! Down! Up! Down!" in alternating high and low voice. He also demands to color several times throughout the day, or brings us books to read to him. He definitely has opinions and ideas as to what he wants to do, and when.

We've been sick off and on since the beginning of the year. I missed the tummy virus when Bug and daddy got it earlier, then Bug was sick again this week and now I have the tummy bug AND a head cold. But my boys have been helpful, letting me rest and recouperate. Daddy has done all the laundry and several loads of dishes, and Bug has only come to wake me from my nap when he wants to nurse, which is much less often now that he's finally feeling better.
