Calvin and Clark

P1050318

It was HOT this Halloween! Temperatures in the 90s made me very glad I had chosen two costumes for the kid, one for warmer weather and one for when it got chilly at night. This was his daytime costume - Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes. He wore the trademark red and black striped shirt, black shorts and red shoes, and carried my stuffed Tigger doll (there are no licensed Hobbes dolls). I had spiked up his hair for his party earlier in the week, but because I anticipated changing him on Halloween before we went trick-or-treating, I didn't spike it this day. Still, with the tiger and the red wagon, he was definitely my Calvin for the day!

At night he was magically transformed into Clark Kent - I got him a Superman t-shirt and a suit, and he was good to go. He was comfy and warm for his first real trick-or-treat (we tried last year, it didn't go so well). He and his little friend went door to door, and once he figured out NOT to go inside each house, he quickly got the hang of saying the key phrase that won him candy.
